Insanity: Was It Worth It? The Results
The answer is a resounding, YES! I am telling you Insanity was not a cake walk though! I had my ups and downs throughout the Insanity program but now that it's all said and done, I am so glad I did it. Let me give you a Month 2 breakdown:
I started out Month 2, scared and a little leery of jumping around as intensely as Month 1 but for 60 minutes as opposed to the 45 minutes I was used to. I was feeling so good though physically, that I was ready for it. I started to feel bloated around week 2 and it was discouraging. I felt really strong and tight but bloated none the less. According to Alicia Marie (Oxygen Mag), many bodybuilders avoid intense cardio before a show because it makes you bloat. I was glad I read that or I would have freaked out. By the end of the program the bloat was gone and the scale went back down.
The last week of Insanity was the hardest for me. Mentally I was so ready to be done. It took all I had to put that DVD in and do the workout every day! On the last Thursday of the month I even put Pure Cardio in because I just didn't want to do Max Interval Circuit. You'll be happy to know I started doing Pure Cardio but couldn't go through with it. I put MIC in, sucked it up and finished, yippee!!
After all of that intense cardio and plyo I thought I would lose weight for sure. Guess what? I only lost 2 lbs.! Granted I am not overweight to begin with but I still have an unhealthy obsession with the scale. Thanks to my nutritionist, I am starting to let go of that. She checked my body fat at the beginning and at the end of the program. I gained a total of 5 lbs. of muscle and lost 4% of my body fat. Just goes to show you that the scale is a LIAR! That's right, I just called it a name and it can just live with it! :D
My measurements were better as well. Here are the stats:
Waist: -1/2"
Hips: -3/4"
Thighs: - 1/4"
Chest: 3/4" (sniff, sniff:)
I would encourage anyone doing this program to take your measurements and pictures and if possible, get your BMI done by a professional. I would have been so discouraged had I not done those things. The scale is not accurate, as I have found out personally!
I think the shape of my body is vastly improved over this 67 day program. I actually feel good in a bikini and will proudly say, "Nothing is jiggling here!". Yeah!
I hope you have a chance to try the program out. If you do, let me know what you think, pretty please!

Absolutely!!!! The bloat is for real and the discouragement is a definite, but still an amazing workout. I'm doing it again (second time) and start my recovery week next week. I'm already dreading the 60 minute workouts, but remember that they're fun and I will see amazing results!
Oh good, I'm glad it wasn't just me Jen:o) Way to go on doing it a second time!! Let me know how it is when it's all said and done.

So happy to hear the great news! Enjoy your recovery week and heading back to the gym!
Holy Smokes! Way to go on the awesome results. The scale never tells the whole story. I lent my Insanity set out and am waiting to get it back. I never did a full rotation just did the workouts sporadically. I'm ready to give it a shot!! Good job. What's next?
Maria
Thanks Maria! I was happy with how it changed my muscles : ) Next up is the scary world of the gym! I haven't been there in years. I think I am going to take my P90X worksheets with me and do it there.
I am getting curious about this program. I'm just not sure I understand how it can cause bloating.
Excessive cardio can cause bloating because of all the sweating. You're body will hold on to all of the sodium it gets because of the amount it's losing. It does balance out after a bit though which is why it went away at about week 3 in Month 2. Oh, how smart our bodies are : ) It's a great program, I think you would enjoy it. I know there are a few of the workouts that I will be putting into my regular rotation for sure!

I didn't notice bloating, but man that last week...I was right there with you. Dreaded everysingle day, but I am so glad I powered through!
Yay! Congratulations on no jiggles! Now when you forget your towel at the gym you can hop on out of that shower stall and not worry about moving long after you've stopped!
In all seriousness, congratulations. Your dedication and passion are inspiring!
love the recap of it and sooo glad you found it worth it! congrats on your successes!!!!

Love that you love Insanity! And what great results you had - I wish I had done my measurements and gotten my BMI done before I started, but it helped that I was 4 months post-baby, so I could actually see results. :)
My pure cardio DVD has scratched for the 2nd time. Luckily Beachbody sends replacements. I guess that means it's my fave of all the discs. :)
Yep, Pure Cardio is one of my faves as well Kelly : ) The BMI change was definitely awesome to see!
With those numbers, I should try it!
Yes, you should! : )
Sounds like it was quite worth it! Can't wait to try it out!!!
Keep up the great work !
My husband and I have been doing p90x for about three months now. He has lost 10 pounds ! Me four. I just need to get more fit.

Im so glad I found your blog. Iam on the 4 week of insanity and I started bloating SOOO MUCH and feeling fatter than before, so eventually the bloating goes away right?
Just make sure you're drinking enough water and are getting enough to eat. Also, make sure you're getting enough fiber. I did have bloating but remember that your body sends water to muscle to repair it after intense exercise. You may notice some of it goes away when you are on a rest week. I noticed most of my results when I was finished with the program. Good luck!
