Workouts in Review- Yoga on the Edge


I have done several of Sara's yoga practices and I have liked most of them. I originally came across Yoga on the Edge on Video-on-Demand. I did the "Sunset" segment and really enjoyed it because it left me feeling strong, stretched and relaxed by the end. I previewed the other practices as well and found them to be challenging and uplifting at the same time. The only downside that I found was that the music can become repetitive, though after a while though I found I didn't even hear it anymore.

I always love getting yoga DVD's with several workouts because I feel like I'm getting my money's worth. Yoga on the Edge follows through by offering three totally different practices that each have their own benefits. I hope you enjoy these practices as much as I did:)

- The sunrise practice, shot on the majestic pink sandy beach moves through postures more quickly, to wake the body up and get going. It is the longest and most physically challenging of the three programs.

- High noon uses the serene setting to inspire breath and balance.

- Sunset is a calming sequence designed to wind the body down after a hard day.

A little bit about Sara:

Teaching since 1995, Sara began her in depth study of yoga while receiving a BFA from NYU. She has completed teacher trainings with Erich Schiffmann, YogaWorks and John Friend in the Anusara style and will graduate from the Yoga Philosophy Program at Loyola Marymount University this semester. Sara is a Contributing Editor to "Shape," "Health" and "Fit Yoga" magazines. She is also the instructor of the "Yoga for Dummies," "Crunch Yoga," and "Russell Simmons' 'Yoga Live'" DVDs, which have sold over 4.3 million units worldwide. She is currently on Fit TV's "All Star Workouts" and recently appeared on Vh1's "Celebrity Rehab with Dr.Drew." Yoga on the Edge is Sara's first self-produced practice so you get a true sense of Sara's personality and heart.

Clean Eating Recipe of the Week- Walnut Crusted Salmon


This main dish is fast and easy! I got the recipe out of my Oxygen Magazine a while ago and I eat it on a regular basis. I serve it with a green salad and steamed veggies, yummy!


INGREDIENTS:

• 4 4-oz filets of salmon
• 1/4 cup walnuts, finely chopped with a pinch of cinnamon
• Drizzle of olive oil



INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Coat salmon filets with walnut-cinnamon mixture.

2. In a nonstick pan with a drizzle of olive oil, sear the fish on both sides to desired temperature, or when fish begins to flake.

3. Serve with your favorite clean eating sides.


Makes 4 servings • Ready in 15 minutes
