Equipment Tricks

Okay, so I thought I would show all of you how I keep my exercise equipment from taking over the house. I use quite a bit of equipment since I workout solely at home but since that home is a tiny 922 sq.ft., I can't have it lying around all of the time. Here are my "secrets" to keeping it available yet hidden.

First, this is my step. I use it as a weight bench and as an aerobic step. I have it hidden under my love seat.
Here are all of my risers for the step bench and high step, hidden inside are my resistance bands and resistance tubing. It's also been known to double as a toy hiding area: )
I bought this cheap little shelf unit at Wal Mart and it works perfectly for storing my barbell plates, my gloves, my weighted ball, weighted gloves, ankle weights, push-up bars and yoga strap.
Tucked neatly by the shelf are my barbell and yoga mat. They hide behind my curtains when I'm not using them.
I am able to hide my shelf unit and my high step behind my chair so they are not even noticed when we have guests over. It's great because I have everything ready to go but hidden away at the same time.
My hand weights hide underneath my large sofa. I discovered that they were scratching up the floor so I stuck furniture pads on them and problem solved!
So there you have it, it is possible to have all of your workout equipment at home for your workouts. If I can do it in this tiny house, anyone can!

How many of you workout solely at home? How do you store your equipment?

I am a clean, neat, and organizational freak. I love that you're pretty much the same way w/ your workout equip. OMG 922 sq ft. When we left San Diego, we were in an almost 1500 sq ft 2 story townhouse but we only have 1 kid. You have 3. Girl, major props for not wanting to kill yourself in close quarters. People ask us but why did you leave san diego, it's beautiful there...ummm home ownership in something we can turn around in. I know you know what I mean. It's a great place but the cost of living just blows...Thx for your great comments as always on my bloggie
xoxo

You really got creative with your storage space!

My workout equipment is gathering dust in a closet. ;-) But I've only got some weights, a resistance band, and an excercise ball. A lot of my videos don't require a whole lot of equipment, and before Baby #3 I used to walk a lot.

I'm gearing myself up to start working out again. I can't blame the baby for my waistline forever, and my size 8 jeans are calling my name! ;-)

Hi! I'm with you- I love working out at home- not only is it cost effective but it takes away my excuses to not go to the gym- you have to go home! plus its great to take a shower in my very own shower after a great workout.
I keep my barbells in a box on the bottom shelf of our book shelves, one whold bookshelf is dedicated to workout DVD's, my yoga mats are rolled and under the bed (the only place my cat won't think they're scratching posts!), and my bike (and soon my bike trainer) in the closet (aka "the garage"). I'm dying to get a stepper. we have 800 sq ft, and now after reading your post, I'm convinced I have room for it! what kind do you recommend? thanks!

Nice! I use my couches to hide my free weights and step/risers as well. Too many little hands around here not to!!

Hey Mindy,

I got mine at WalMart.com. $79 and the shipping isn't bad. Here's a link:

I also have a high step because I needed it for so many of my leg press exercises. It also comes with 4 risers so I now have a total of 8. Here's a link for that one:

You'll never regret getting one!

I wish I had a place to hang some, but I haven’t even found a suitable place for a chin up bar yet. I’m thinking about getting some of those TRX straps.
