Workouts in Review: Bryan Kest Power Yoga
I had loaned this DVD out to my mother-in-law and forgotten about it for quite awhile but remembered it and decided to try it out again. Whew! What a workout! My entire body was sore the next day. I forgot how long Bryan has you hold some of the poses. It was a great practice and I'm so glad I did it.
What is it?
Bryan Kest's Power Yoga has 3 workouts on it. Each varies in length from 40-65 minutes in length. Bryan Kest is the instructor and he has almost 20 years experience teaching Ashtanga yoga. According to Bryan Power Yoga is "a fast-paced, high-energy, life-enhancing yoga program that will leave you slimmer, stronger, and re-energized for the grind of everyday life".
Who is it for?
Because this DVD includes 3 programs that get progressively more difficult, I think you could start out as a beginner/intermediate and become advanced over time.
What to Expect:
I think Bryan's style is very "L.A. Yogi". You have to get past the long hair and tight pants and focus on how thorough and intense this yoga can be. Like I said, I was really surprised at how sore I was the next day because I practice yoga on a regular basis. Bryan was one of the first instructors I used and he really helped me with my form and leg strength. It is definitely worth getting!

ReplyDeleteOMG This is sooo timely. Ok so you know I am subbing and teaching at a variety of yoga studios here. Well, Bryan is coming thru this one studio I sub at for a one-afternoon 4 hour workshop in March and I was going to go to the studio tomorrow morning, pick up my check, and *sign up for his workshop*.
ReplyDeleteEven living in So Cal, I never made the trek to LA to practice with him and am so excited bout this workshop! Love the review, thanks Nicole!
