Books in Review- Tosca Reno's Eat Clean Cookbook

Okay, I got my copy of Tosca's new Eat Clean Cookbook and I am SO excited! I have been considering High Raw, All Vegan for the winter months so I have been on the prowl for cookbooks that would fit the bill. I purchased the Eat Clean Cookbook for my family but was pleasantly surprised to find that I had found my cookbook without even knowing it.

I went through the book cover-to-cover and here's what I found:

41 Vegetarian Recipes
77 Vegan Recipes
25 Meat Recipes

Yep, there are more vegan recipes than anything. This is so cool! Even better, most of the vegetarian recipes could easily be made vegan. For those of you who are meat lovers you could easily add it to any of the recipes if you wanted.

Another plus for me, there are hardly any soy products in the recipes. Because of my thyroid disease I cannot have any soy and it's hard to find vegan/vegetarian recipes without it. Yippee! I also am in love with the addition of coconut oil in this book. It is a great oil! Read about it's benefits HERE.

I am beyond happy with this book! I know it has something for everyone. Most importantly, it has all whole, natural, fresh ingredients and there's nothing better than that! I hope you go out and get a copy, I'm glad I did : )

  1. Thx for the book review!

I guess I am living under a rock b/c I have never paid much attention to her recipes....good to know she's got the veg/vegan in mind!

I have 5 cookbooks for the raw vegan life:
    Sarma-2, Matthew K-1, Ani-2, and that's it!

And now that I've had them 4-5 mos, I dont even use them that much. I wish I had the tIME and oh yeah, the $25+ per meal of random ingredients some of them use like mesquite powder, date paste, name an exotic ingredient, etc that they have. Not that I couldnt get those things, but you know.

Hopefully your RFRW order came in. I am having a time of it with Natural Zing right now...

  2. Yes Averie, I have those Raw books too and I use my one from my co-op more than them. I also just throw things together with ingredients I have and keep my fingers crossed : )

Nope, no RFW order yet : ( I made some chewy coconut treats with carob out of desperation and they were actually pretty good. I'll post the recipe later this week!

  7. Do most of the recipes use grains? I am aiming to eat more raw/vegan but I cannot include grains in this endeavor - just doesn't sit well with my digestion.

Good to know there's not much soy! I have problems with soy as well (incredibly estrogen-dominant).

I just found your blog and I'm going to be reading it a while tonight! :)

  8. Hey repeater beater,

I would say there is an equal mix of vegetable, grain and legume recipes. A little something for everyone : )

Thanks for reading my blog! I hope you enjoy it : )

  9. Great Review girl!
I love Tosca's books, I'm not a vegetarian myself but have definitely been limiting my meat consumption. I got this cookbook a bit over a month ago and absolutely love it! My favorite recipes so far are the Tofu Crème Brule, the spicy Fava Bean Spread and the Moroccan Pumpkin Soup!
I definitely recommend this book to anyone, meat lovers to vegans! A lot of the recipes can be adapted to anyone. I've already bought copies for my friends for Christmas!
