Workouts in Review: Cardio Core Circuit

I can't believe I still haven't finished reviewing all of my new workouts from Cathe! The Shock Cardio Series has 11 awesome workouts so it may take me awhile : ) Cardio Core Circuit is a fun workout and is a great addition to my cardio workout choices. This is the workout I will be reviewing today.

What is it?

CCC is a 51-minute advanced, interval workout. It has a unique blend of cardio, cardio/core and pure core exercises. I love bootcamp style workouts and that's just what this is. The best thing is that the only equipment you'll need is a mat!

Who is it for?

This workout is more advanced but if you have a strong core you could do it without any issues. The choreography is very basic so you won't be tripping over your feet. Each round repeats three exercises so I found it to be easier to concentrate on form. Now that's not to say this workout is easy by any means!

What to expect?

The workout starts with a 5 minute warm-up then there are 5 cardio/core rounds. Each round has a cardio, cardio/core and core only exercise so you get a well-rounded workout. The rounds vary from 6-10 minutes each and the workout ends with a 6-minute stretch. The first time I did this workout I was sore in my core as well as my back. The second time through I really felt my core kick in and noticed very little discomfort in my back. I promise, you will notice a difference in your core if you regularly do this workout. Between the mountain climbers, the squat thrusts and the triangle choke-holds, you will have an awesome core in no time!

How many of you workout at home? Do you like to see workout reviews or my weight routines?

I do all of my cardio with DVD workouts as well as my strength program but the strength program is easy to modify for use at the gym.

Let me know!

  1. yes - keep posting reviews. Maybe I should do it to for the physically challenged people like me! haha I love your workout reviews! I have a ton of Cathe Dvds - in fact all of them but the STS series. I cannot do some of the really high impact stuff like the IMAX due to my RA, but I still try to do what I can. I also have Get Ripped with Jari Love, a ton of yoga tapes, Core Fusion workouts, and alot of TurboJam and Chalene Xtreme...I used to go to the gym all the time but prefer working out at home. I will have to check out this DVD...I did just get her Travel Fit DVD and I really like it.

  2. Yes, the Shock Cardio series does have a lot of high impact moves. Three kids later high impact stuff can be a bit hard for me too but I just improvise here and there : ) I LOVE Chalean Extreme and Turbo Jam! I really want the Travel Fit. I bought the series a week after the Travel Fit was unavailable for pre-sale. I imagine I will get it one day : )

  3. Being a mom that doesn't get to the gym anymore, I like the DVD reviews. Unfortunately, I rarely take the time to grab one up and pop it in the player. I tend to opt for what's OnDemand (part of our cable service) and what I've memorized over time.

  4. I really like the DVD reviews - I can add them to my X-mas/birthday wish lists! This is really helpful for me, since I lost my favorite cardio DVD. I may have to add this one to my wish list! ;-)

  6. Hhhmmm. Interesting. I haven't done any Cathe workouts, but a lot of my readers have mentioned them. Now I must go for it! I just finished Insanity -- have you tried that one? I have mixed feelings about it. I just posted on it today --
