Insanity: Day 7- Cardio Power & Resistance

Today was the second time through CP&R. I did notice I got through it a bit better than the first time which was cool. As I said, I will do a further breakdown of each workout as I repeat it. The warm-up is 10 minutes long and each cycle repeats itself 3 times before you get a water break. Here's the warm-up cycle breakdown of Cardio Power and Resistance:

Jog
Power Jacks
Log Jumps
1-2-3 Heisman
Butt Kicks
High Knees
Vertical Jumps

After the third time through you get a 30-second water break and then it's on to the 7-minute stretch. The format for warm-up and stretches in this first month are the same but the moves are varied which is nice. I was wishing that the warm-up and stretch would get longer with Month 2 but I have a feeling I am not going to be so lucky ;D

I hope you all had a wonderful 4th of July weekend! Did you do anything fun? Did you make any yummy, clean eating recipes? I made myself some delicious Raw ice cream and had Raw tacos which are delish! I use lettuce as the tortilla and it is SO good!

I can't wait to hear from you!

I just did an insanity workout for my first time today. That stuff is freaking hard! Anyone who completes the program is amazing, I might try in the fall- it's marathoning time and my knees would die with this and my long runs!

Adrien, yeah if I combined this with long runs I would be useless! It IS freaking hard! I admire you for running marathons! I've always wanted to but 3 babies later the sad reality is that long distance running is not my friend : ( Enjoy your runs and let me know what you think of Insanity when you do it.

FYI, the warm up does change in month 2. :)
I used the insanity to get me in race shape, Adrien. Now I'm mixing in some P90x while triathlon training. Then after my races I'll gi back to Insanity/p90X. It's kind of addicting. And after seeing such success with it, it makes it that much more motivating. Good luck on your marathon. My knees couldn't handle that either. That's why I stick to tri's.

Kelly, I'm glad to hear you had good luck with a P90X/ Insanity hybrid. I was thinking of doing the same thing after I finish Insanity. Of course that was until Turbo Fire came out, heehee......

I know, right?! You could always do a TurboFire/P90X hybrid instead? Or TurboFire/Chalene Extreme. So many options!!!

Thank the Lord for Beachbody, the possibilities are endless!! :D

I just found your blog from Averie, and I am on the Insanity train right now too. I'm on week 2, and have to admit, not a big fan. I really liked P90X, but a little too much weights. I'm thinking about changing back to the P90X lean routine (which may be a better fit), but want to stick out at least a month on this if I can. Unfortunately though, it is beating up my bad knee!

Very cool blog, I will be back :)

Alisa, have you seen Turbo Fire? It looks awesome! It's kickboxing, stretching, resistance bands. I'm so excited to try it! You might mike it check it out. Let me know if you see any results with Insanity and be careful with that knee : ) Thanks for stopping by and reading!

Alisa,
What kind of floor are you doing your Insanity on? I do Insanity in the garage and started having knee problems, so put down an exercise mat and haven't had problems since. Also, Arnica Gel helps my knees a TON!
Nicole,
I just started TurboFire and love it. It's a lot of fun, but takes a bit to catch on to. I used the "New to Class" option and it totally helped. I love that the HIIT workouts are so effective and can be done in as little as 15 minutes. Who doesn't have 15 minutes??
You can check out TurboFire and all the other amazing videos at:

Thanks for your great blog!

Nicole,
Just wondering, have you thought about being a coach for Beachbody? You love the videos and it's a great way to save money - 25% off products. You're already doing the job of a coach - sharing your story about it with others. I'm just sayin' ...

I have thought about it Kelly : ) I know it would be easy to sell the products because I love them SO much! I have had many coaches tell me I should so maybe one day.....
